Minimum Conditions of Sustainability and Scalability
What is the capability repertory that a community needs to possess, if it wants to guide its evolution toward a preferred future?
It is a living, breathing ecosystem of individual and collective talents, knowledge, and experiences, which self-configure and re-configure into patterns that match the community's changing, key challenges and opportunities.
To visualize that ecosystem, let's look at it from an pattern-seeking, architectural perspective. Why "architectural"?
"The science and art of architecture lie in skillfully relating parts to a greater whole, creating a form uniquely appropriate for the exercise of a specific set of functions." --The Web of Inclusion: a New Architecture for Building Great Organizations, by Sally Helgesen
When I felt into what is needed minimally, to create a hospitable environment, positive user experience, seed activities and support functions that will make the Convergence community viable and scalable, I used my Community Design Architecture from which a bunch of questions jumped into my mind.
I present the initial ideas inspired by those questions, on a set of connected book pages. I will update them, from time to time, with insights gleaned from the conversations associated with them. (I think of putting that document under Creative Commons license, which will also help us testing of issues related to licensing, in a concret case.)
